Multiculturalism
On the one hand, multiculturalism is good because it’s a way of knowing other cultures, languages and people. On the other hand, it is bad because it can be a serious source of conflict as many people don’t accept the differences, because there is prejudice.
People are discriminated because of their race, nationality, religious beliefs, low social status, life style, clothes and physical or mental capacities.
Prejudice is an unfair attitude. It exists everywhere. Some people believe that white people are naturally superior to black people. This is called racism. So, black people don’t have equal opportunities in housing, jobs, education or politics.
Immigration is a major political issue in many countries, because immigrants face rejection, hatred or violence, due to unemployment. Immigrants are accused of changing the countries that can lose their own identities.
However, multiculturalism is a beautiful mosaic of cultures with different dreams and hopes.
